Judgment

Satan is not the only one who will oppose you and what you are doing. In fact, Satan is a lightweight compared to when God chooses to become your opponent. There is no record in Scripture of Satan ever destroying God’s people. However, there are several instances where God brought devastating judgment on His people. God will not allow us to ignore or dishonor Him with impunity. He has a multitude of ways to discipline us and to get our attention. The raising up of enemies and opposition is one of God’s most effective tools for such a purpose.

Start the Conversation

People who love each other look forward to spending time together. Do you talk to God every day? Few Christians do. Many Christians only talk to God when they need something from Him, which is not the way to conduct a healthy relationship. Absolutely amazing things happen in your relationship with God when you talk to Him just because you want to be with Him.

What is that in your hand?

“So the Lord said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ He said, ‘A rod.’” Exodus 4:2 In Moses’ day, if you saw a man with a shepherd’s rod, you immediately knew a great deal about him. You would know his profession. You would discern his basic skill set and experience. You might surmise his business background and contacts. You would know much about the man’s lifestyle and where he spent his time. His rod represented his life and business background.

The Antidote for Spiritual Lethargy

Do you suffer from spiritual lethargy? Most American Christians do. The symptoms are many and varied. Some days you feel spiritually disconnected. You just can’t seem to find your way into God’s presence. Sometimes these spiritually disconnected days turn into two or three days, or a week. Lately it has seemed like they are happening more frequently.

Opposition

If you cannot stand to have people oppose you, you should prayerfully consider whether God has called you to be a leader. If you lead, you should expect opposition. This is because when you lead, others will inevitably second-guess you.

Return to Cana

Cana is a tiny, insignificant village on the slopes of the Galilean hills. It was just down the road from Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth. Even today, there is not much to see in Cana, even for eager tourists. There are no great monuments erected to former heroes. No major battle was fought there. No world leader emerged from that town. It has always been a backwater place for ordinary people.
